This tour takes you through the breathtaking landscapes of Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, home to the rare golden monkeys and stunning volcanic peaks, before immersing you in the rich traditions of the indigenous Batwa people. You’ll also have the opportunity to unwind at the serene Lake Bunyonyi, one of Uganda’s most beautiful and peaceful lakes. Whether you’re trekking to observe the playful golden monkeys, engaging with the Batwa community to learn about their fascinating culture, or simply soaking in the tranquility of Lake Bunyonyi, this tour offers an enriching experience that highlights the very best of Uganda’s natural and cultural wonders.

Day 01 :

TRANSFER TO MGAHINGA NATIONAL PARK

After an early morning breakfast at your hotel, you will be picked up by our driver guide who will brief you about your day’s safari. The journey goes through Masaka district, and several stopovers are granted, the major one at the Uganda equator for photography and viewing, another one at Igongo Cultural Centre for the visit to the Ankole Kigezi museum, and lunch. Then proceed with your journey to Mgahinga National Park, the smallest national park in the country but full of interesting wildlife, such as the golden monkeys and mountain gorillas. On arrival after a long journey, you will check in at the safari lodge for your accommodation.

Day 02 :

GOLDEN MONKEY TREKKING BATWA CULTURAL EXPERIENCE

After breakfast, set off for a golden monkey trekking adventure. These playful primates are a highlight for those who are keen on wildlife photography and spending time in the forest. Golden monkeys are unique to the Virunga region, and their energetic behavior makes them fascinating to observe as they jump through the trees and interact in large troops, this takes 3-4 hours. Head to the lodge for lunch and go a cultural tour after. Learn about the Batwa people, the indigenous forest dwellers of Mgahinga. This cultural visit allows you to understand their traditional way of life, their rich culture, and how they have lived in harmony with the forest for centuries. Enjoy performances of traditional dances, storytelling, and a chance to interact with the community. Head back to the lodge for relaxation dinner and overnight.

Day 03 :

TRANSFER TO LAKE BUNYONYI THEN BACK TO KAMPALA

After breakfast, check out of your lodge and depart for Lake Bunyonyi. The scenic drive offers beautiful views of the Ugandan countryside. Upon arrival at Lake Bunyonyi, take a boat ride on the serene lake, exploring its many islands, including the famous Punishment Island. Learn about the cultural significance of the lake and its surrounding area. After this enjoy lunch by the lake at a local restaurant or lodge, savoring the fresh air and the views.

After lunch, begin the drive back to Kampala you will continue with your journey to Kampala. Your journey to Kampala will take approximately 8 hours. Your guide will either drop you off at any hotel or at the airport to catch your flight.
