Overview

This 6 days Mutinda lookout offers a good balance of hiking and immersion in the unique landscapes of the Rwenzori Mountains National Park. You’ll embark on a journey to Mt Rwenzori, where you’ll hike through foothills rich in flora, waterfalls, and panoramic views, beautiful sceneries forests and lush vegetations with over flowing waterfalls. The backdrop of snow-capped peaks and lush forested landscapes will provide an exceptional experience. Enjoy Africa’s most awe-inspiring landscapes, where raw beauty and high-altitude adventure converge.

Day 01 :

TRANSFER FROM KAMPALA TO KASESE

After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel to start your journey to Kasese. The drive will take you about 7 hours. You will have enroute lunch and then proceed with your journey to Kasese for overnight. Once you reach Kasese, transfer to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 02 :

TRANSFER FROM KASESE TO SINE CAMP VIA KILEMBE

After enjoying breakfast, you'll set out on a guided trek. Travel to Kilembe base camp. Your mountain guides will explain the plan for the hike. From the base camp, you will walk to the entrance of Rwenzori Mountains National Park. At the entrance, rangers will give you a short talk about the park rules and your responsibilities while inside. The hike starts at Trekkers at 1,450 meters and ends at Sine Hut at 2,596 meters. Along the way, you will encounter many birds, blue monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys’ variety of plant species such as low shrubs, flowers, fungi. Head to Sine camp and have great views sit and enjoy the beauty of afro montane forest while looking at the beautiful waterfall flowing over the rocks far below and check into our wooden cabins for dinner and overnight you can choose to sit around the campfire for relaxation.

Day 03 :

HIKING TO MUTINDA CAMP

After enjoying a hearty breakfast, the hike begins at around 8:30 a.m. You’ll enter the Bamboo Mimulopsis Zone, which has a steep path with many tall steps. The forest is lush and full of life, making the climb a memorable experience. Here, you can take a short break and enjoy a warm cup of tea or coffee before continuing to Mutinda Camp. Along the way, you’ll cross several small streams and pass near beautiful waterfalls covered in moss, river lined with thick moss and large Heather trees. These trees are draped in green moss and hanging lichen, giving the forest a magical feel. When you get to the top of Mutinda you will enjoy the great views across the Rwenzori mountains, Lake George and Kasese town. Head to Mutinda camp for relaxation dinner and overnight

Day 04 :

KIHARO CAMP

Have breakfast and start hiking slightly higher before taking a right turn and descending through Hanwicks pass to Kiharo camp which at 3420 metres this camp is set in a valley with lush vegetation enjoy the scenic views of mount Rwenzori have dinner and overnight here to prepare to descend to the base of the mountain.

Day 05 :

RETURN TO BASE CAMP

Make your way back down to the base camp in Kilembe, passing through lush forests, flowing rivers, and rocks covered in thick moss. The descent covers about 15 kilometers and will take between 7 to 9 hours on foot. Head to the lodge for relaxation and overnight in Kasese town.

Day 06 :

TRANSFER BACK TO KAMPALA

After Breakfast you will check out of your hotel and transfer to Kampala with enroute lunch you will most likely reach Kampala in the evening.
